Wood 1942 Emerson Model EC-425 AM Vacuum Tube Radio Beautiful Little Woody!
DESCRIPTION: Beautiful AM tabletop vacuum tube clock radio manufactured by Emerson in the 1942 time frame still in excellent working condition. The original wood cabinet is structurally solid with no splits and no peeling veneer. Finish is worn and weathered like an old jazz guitar. Has a honest distressed look from almost 80 years of travels and adventures! No cracks, chips, or major scratches! Not refinished not over sprayed or touched up. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without an external wire antenna. The volume and tuning knobs are original matching plastic securely attached. The tuning and volume knobs are in excellent condition. Tuning dial clear plastic window is factory original not cracked not chipped no warping yellowed with age. All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. Dial light works and lights up brightly. Front Emerson decal is in excellent condition. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring on the back of the radio. Original backing board is intact securely attached. These cardboard backing boards are missing 9 times out of 10! This radio also comes with a rarely seen turntable which allows the radio to swivel! Can be easily removed. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
