DESCRIPTION: If you are looking for the perfect mid-century clock radio to complement your mid-century modern aesthetic take a look at this tabletop tube AM radio alarm clock manufactured by Westinghouse. Built in early to mid sixties, this radio is in excellent working condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial. Cabinet is original condition top and sides in cream-colored plastic with slate grey front and black and blue trim. This radio features the "Glow Light" series and fantastic clear graphics. The only other constantly-on clock light I have found is in the Arvin 51R series. Think about it: all they had were incandescent bulbs back then. Clock are always on. Bulbs burn out. Not these bulbs in these clock radios because they used a gas energized type bulb like neon. Very expensive. The clear front bezel is in mint condition. Totally transparent no yellowing no cracks no hazing. Looks almost like glass plate. Awesome color scheme. No chips, deep abrasions or missing material. This radio is transitional and represents the last of the tube based designs based on the design graphics, use of aluminum, modern plastics coupled with vacuum tube electronics or yore. Very cool and usable everyday. The clear tuning dial is missing center gold applique. This radio is over 50 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. Kitschy and very mid-century looking. The tuning dial works fine. Original power cable is securely attached no breaks, splits, or exposed wiring. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The clock works. The alarm works. The sleep function works. The clock set and alarm set work. This radio also features a "Holiday" setting since ostensibly one would not set alarm unless one was on holiday back int he fifties and sixties! Set to 'holiday' and you'll wake up in your favorite exotic vacation destination! All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets.
