DESCRIPTION: If you are fantasizing about a sixties designer kitchen in avocado, this is the radio for you! Tabletop tube AM clock radio manufactured by Admiral in 1959 in very good condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations around the dial without need of external antenna attachment. This radio is a 4 tube and 1 Intermediate Frequency Transformer (IFT) design. So it will be a weaker receiver than normal 5 tube and 2 IFT design. It will pick up stronger broadcasting stations only.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is factory original molded avocado green color. Not repainted no touch up no over spray. Often this model has heat crack on top. Not this one! All original everything!
KNOBS: Factory original matching knobs securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logos.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: This radio is a 4 tube and 1 Intermediate Frequency Transformer (IFT) design. So it will be a weaker receiver than normal 5 tube and 2 IFT design. It will pick up stronger broadcasting stations only. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine.All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No back board. Not designed with one. Color matching back cover is in excellent condition no cracks no chips no major scratches.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom label is about 50% missing.
CLOCK: This radio is over 60 years old! Clock works, keeps accurate time, and is very quiet no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm works. Sleep function works. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering.
