Pecan Hardwood 1965 RCA Victor Model RGC42S AM/FM Solid State Radio Sounds Great Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop sold state transistor AM/FM radio manufactured by RCA Victor in 1965 time frame in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM and FM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. FM dipole antenna is included for even better FM reception.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory constructed pecan hardwood. Very high quality wood cabinet construction like high end furniture. Has pretty filigree design on the sides. Not repainted. No touch up. No over spray. Factory original light stain and clear coat. No cracks, chips, or major scratches or missing pieces. Original factory grill fabric is in excellent condition with no rips, no separated edges. A few runs along thew bottom edge. Some grill fabric tufting due to adhesive separation. There is a small run at the bottom the grill along the tuning bezel top edge. No water stains. Front clear tuning window is clear, no cracks, no scratches, securely attached. Raised edge chrome paint is worn thin in areas. Aluminum panel has some small dings but no major dents or scratches.
KNOBS: Original 3 factory matching chrome plastic volume, tone, and band switch knobs. All working as deisgned. Chrome paint has some minor rubbed off due to wear and normal use. Center tone knob was cracked then reglued, securely attached. Tuning knonb is factory orginal no cracks, no chips, securely attached, with chrome paint rub off. Tuning operation works as designed no slipping, stuck oir sticky spots across the dial.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front center RCA Victor logo is in excellent condition.
DIAL LIGHT: dial light works and lights brightly. Replaced with modern LED for long life.
CLOCK: No clock.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug is in excellent condition with no breaks, splits or exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is in excellent condition. Factory printing is readable no water stains. No breaks or chips. Crisp square corners and edges. New power cord is routed through new stress relief bushing on the lower right corner for safe reliable daily use.
