Oriental Theme Painted Mandarin Red Bakelite 1947 RCA Victor Model 75X15 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Sounds Great! Looks Spectacular!
DESCRIPTION: Rare red hand painted at RCA factory in 1946 table top Bakelite AM vacuum tube radio. Red version is harder to find than black. Seems like high relief paint or molded in such a way to demonstrate varying thicknesses throughout painted scenes. Every 75X15 is hand rendered or hand finished scene depicting old man flying kite with bridges and pagodas. Each model example is slightly different. Very courageous design for right after WW2!
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded Bakelite. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces. Beautifully high quality gold colored metal surround not rusted and securely attached. No rips, no separation, no discoloration of back grill fabric. No painting touchups, repairs or repaints performed or needed. Grill slats are factory painted that way. Tuning clear cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips. Slight hazing and yellowing due to age. Numbers are all clearly etched.
KNOBS: Original matching reddish knobs securely attached. Factory painted knobs have a few paint chips. The original tuning cone is shiny securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logos or rubbed of decals.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to guarantee against silver migration disease (SMD) in the future. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polraized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Not designed with one. Little fabric mesh behind back vent slats is missing.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels. Readable, intact but looks very dirty.
