Mocha Brown Bakelite 1949 AM/FM Emerson Model 659 Brown Swirly Marbled Vacuum Tube Radio Works Great! Solid Built!

DESCRIPTION: This is the radio you will turn on and actually listen to! Its inconspicuous and somewhat plain looks are overshadowed by the fact it gets FM! When this radio was new, there was no way they could have foreseen the evolution of broadcast content on AM and FM stations. AM/FM Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Emerson in the 1949-1950 timeframe still in excellent+ working and physical condition. This radio has excellent  audio sound quality for design that is over half a century old. No cracks, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! All original molded Bakelite no repaints or repairs. All knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. Picks up AM and FM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. FM sounds even better with dipole wire antenna which is included. AM sounds great with or without external antenna. Excellent mid century design! Original brown molded Bakelite cabinet is flawless glossy condition. Has working orange gas lit pilot light that never needs replacing. The knobs are original matching brown plastic securely attached. This radio is over 60 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The back panel is in excellent condition. The tuning and volume dials work fine. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The brand new replacement power cord and saftey polarized plug is in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. Bottom factory label is mostly there. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
