Meteor Grey 1956 Crosley Ranchero T-60CL AM Vacuum Tube Radio Excellent Plus Condition Sounds Great and Enduring Design!
DESCRIPTION: It's hard to believe this radio came out over half century ago. It looks like something you can buy today at a high end audio store. These Crosley Rancheros are some of the highest quality designs from any manufacturer of the period. The quality of the materials is unsurpassed. This particular radio is in a very classy designer charcoal grey color with white grill. Very rare model to find in any condition!
This quality manufacturer is one of the only manufacturers still in business today and still making radios. Incredible! In fact, Crosley still makes an AM FM reproduction of this exact design called Ranchero too but using solid state and digital electronic technology as opposed to vacuum tube and printed circuit board. This radio is the original authentic version.
Tabletop vacuum tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Crosley in 1956 time frame in excellent plus working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Factory original charcoal grey paint over black molded Bakelite. Not repainted not touched up or overspray. Solid as a brick. No cracks, chips or major scratches. Couple small paint dings on top. The front metal piece is in excellent condition with minimal rust, bubbling and pin pricks. The clear tuning display is not scratched or cracked or yellowed. The white original factory painted white metal screen grill is in excellent condition with no rust, flaking, dents or dings. Front metal mesh grill is smooth no dents no waviness. The tuning window chrome metal ovular surround trim is in excellent condition with minimal rust, chrome bubbling or pin pricks. The tuning scale back panel is in excellent condition with no rust, paint flaking, or water stains.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
KNOBS: Knobs are original and securely attached. Chrome metal knobs are original, matching, securely attached and in excellent condition. The tuning dial works fine. No slipping or sticky spots.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge. I feel this radio design would have benefited with a tuning dial light.
LOGO: Crosley script logo was chipped off at one point and re-glued onto grill. However, Crosley logo lettering is complete. No missing parts of lettering.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
CLOCK: No clock.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug is in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. Almost all T-60s suffer from power cord fatigue at the base interconnect but this is the first one I've seen with no breaks.
FACTORY LABELS: Bottom factory label is intact which is rare.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
COLOR: Grey
