Marilyn Pink Mid Century 1957 Motorola Model 57CC2 Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Sounds Great! Looks Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Motorola in 1957 time frame in excellent working condition. Very attractive late fifties low and sleek low profile design in original factory molded pink color.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations very clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded pink urea plastic a high quality dense plastic that predates polcarbonate plastics today. There is the usual hairline heat crack on top. If you're waiting to find a Marilyn Pink 57CC without the heat crack, it is very unlikely. No other cracks, chips, or major scratches. Original factory molded colors. Not repainted no touch up no over spray. The front gold aluminum tuning fascia panel is in excellent condition with no rust, tarnish, streaking or fading. The silver M logo is spotted with some rust and oxidation on edges. Rare clock clear cover without horizontal cracks. Usually there's one or more eyelash cracks as well emanatying from one of the 3 clock function knobs. This example does not have those eyelash cracks. Clock back panel is in excellent condition with no rust, tarnish, water stains or streaks.
KNOBS: Original matching factory knobs are securely attached. Clear yellowed translucent tuning skirt is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips. Original matching factory clock knobs. No stripped internal post slots. No chipped edges. Gold metal inserts are excellent condition.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front Motorola M logo is in excellent ondition.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer works. Sleep timer works. Rare calendar feature not tested probably works. May need to reset at beginning of every month because calendar function probably is not able to compensate for 28, 29, 30, or 31 day months.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits.
BACKING BOARD: Factory back cover is original and secuely attached. Factory printing is clear and readable.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom factory labels.
