Marble Brown 1946 Zenith Consol-tone Model 6D015 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Excellent Condition Great Sounding! Eames Designed!
DESCRIPTION: A vintage tabletop tube AM radio alarm manufactured by Zenith in 1946 time frame excellent working and physical condition. Powerhouse mid-century industrial designers came up with this inspired design.
CABINET CONDITION: Original factory molded Bakelite brown color. No repaints. No over spray. None needed. Cabinet is in excellent condition with no chips or major scratches. The gold metal front grill trim piece n is in excellent condition not dented, rusted, or dinged. The front tuning clear plastic s is original in excellent condition with no cracks. Tuning black back panel and numbers are in excellent condition. Original factory folding handle has a repaired hairline crack on one of the handle ends but is functional.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
KNOBS: The original matching volume and tuning knobs are in excellent condition. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping no sticky spots. Stacked volume and tuning knobs is not the best design because friction between posts causes one to turn slightly when other is turned.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works. Replaced with modern LED for long life.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING PANEL: Factory original backing board is missing. Antenna panel is reinforced and securely mounted.
FACTORY LABELS: No missing factory labels.
PROVENANCE: Was gently used, lovingly displayed, or stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, smoking, cooking grease, pets or thick carpet.
