Kelly Green Mid Century 1955 Zenith Model R519FAM Vacuum Tube Radio Sleek and Sounds Great! Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: This vintage tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Zenith is in 1955 in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: The cabinet is fabulous! Original molded in green plastic. Not repainted or touched up. No over spray. No cracks, chips or major scratches anywhere on cabinet. No cracks on top which is often the case with this model series. No cracks, chips, or major scratches on either the tuning or clock window clear covers.
KNOBS: Tuning and volume knobs are original and securely attached, Volume knob is not missing its gold metal insert. Tuning knob is missing its gold metal insert. All original three little clock knobs are present intact and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine as designed no slipping no sticky spots. No tarnish and discoloration of metal trim.
LOGO: Zenith crest logo is original securely attached slightly tarnished with age.
DIAL LIGHT: No tuning or clock dial lights. Not originally configured with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent, no humming, no grinding, no ticking noises. Clock and alarm time set function works. Alarm is loud and turns on as designed. Sleep timer works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Second stage Intermediate Frequency Transformer (IFTs) has been rebuilt to ensure static free performance in the future. The first stage did not need to be rebuilt. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact. Has reinforced attachment points for repaired fatigued corners. Original all four t-pins. Usually, the pin attachment flimsy corners are fatigued with age and backing board tends to fall off.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom label is about 50% intact.
