Mariner Teal Vintage 1966 Silvertone 6019 AM/FM Tube Radio Near Mint and Gimmicky Beyond Comparison!
DESCRIPTION: Don Draper would have approved of this stylish and sleek vintage radio with unbelievable "Chromatic" tuning! The tuning dials are rotating wheels of green and blue semi-circles over red and yellow dial background. As you tune stations, the effect is multi-media in a way, visually and aurally, a rainbow! Ha haha. Can you say "gimmicky." Never before seen rare design feature from the once prominent Sears company, like an Amazon of the 20th century, unfortunately, now on its last breath. This radio deserves a place in the "magic quadrant," from my standpoint for being rare as heck, tube driven, AM and FM, with 50s style colors and kitsch. It has it all, man. Manufactured by Silvertone in 1966 time frame in excellent working and near mint physical condition. Cabinet is original factory molded teal turquoise and ivory plastic. No repaints, no over spray no touch up. None needed. No cracks, chips, or major scratches anywhere top front, back, sides or bottom! Holy cow! The chrome paint accent trim is 100% intact with no rub-off, tarnishing or oxidation. That's very hard to find. The aluminum trim is not pitted or rusted or scratched up no waves. No rub off on the lettering. Original knobs are original and securely attached with no missing chrome, cracks or chips. Slight yellowing on knobs. No missing metal inserts in knobs which commonly pop off over the years. This radio features 4" x 6" oval speaker. This radio is one of the better ones for listening purposes. This radio is over 50 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. No missing logos or labels. The bottom label is intact, un-yellowed, un-ripped, no missing corners. The tuning dial works fine. No slipping. Volume works. AM FM selector works. AFC on off works. Bass treble works. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
