DESCRIPTION: Table top vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Truetone Western Auto in 1954 time frame in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations very clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment. The station frequency selectivity and sensitivity and loudness is excellent.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded Bakelite cabinet and factory painted with metallic gray blue paint. Keep in mind: metallic paints were a new innovation and expensive when first introduced back in the early 50s. This radio must have been a sight to behold for folks back then! No cracks, chips, no major scratches. No hairline cracks. All original factory paint. Not repainted no over spray not touched up. No major scratches or missing pieces. There are minor paint dings throughout. Glossy condition, looks great! The center tuning dial has some faded graphics toward the center top section.
KNOBS: Original volume and tuning tan knobs are matching and securely attached with no cracks slightly yellowed with age. No missing gold color metal center inserts. Gold metal pointer is original, shiny, securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logos.
DIAL LIGHT: dial is working and lights brightly. Replaced with modern LED for brightness and long life.
CLOCK: no clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Original power cord and plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition. Clear readable factory printing. Backing board is securely mounted.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Factory labels are not missing
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
