Fiesta Red Orange 1957 Motorola Model 5T22R "Dragster" AM Vacuum Tube Radio Great Sounding! Very Rare Desirable Model!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Motorola in 1957 in excellent working and physical condition. Original factory reddish orang-ish molded color. Was also available in ivory, chocolate brown, and yellow.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Original factory molded reddish orang-ish plastic in excellent condition. No chips or major scratches. There is a small hairline crack just beginning on the top back edge but does not continue all the way across. There is a web of thin faint hairline fractures on the right side top of rounded bout but does not continue all the way across or through the thickness of the plastic. All original red orange factory molded colors through and through. No repaint, over spray or touch up. Front tuning gold insert is original, securely attached, no rub off, no oxidation. No faded or rubbed of numbers. Original front Motorola emblem strip is missing. Replaced at one point with a simple blank gold strip.
KNOBS: All volume and tuning knobs are original brown color plastic and securely attached real clean. Volume and tuning knobs are not missing center gold metal inserts. The tuning dial works fine no slipping no sticky spots. No rust mo broken attach posts.
LOGOS: Original front Motorola emblem strip is missing. Replaced at one point with a simple blank gold strip.
CLOCK: No clock
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The antique radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
POWER CABLE: Factory original power cable and plug are in excellent working condition no breaks no exposed wires no brittleness.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition with no cracks or rips. Original factory antenna and antenna housing is in excellent condition with no broken attach tabs.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
