Butterscotch Gold and Green Catalin 1946 FADA Model 1000 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Works Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by FADA in the 1946 time frame in excellent working and physical condition. This iconic design represents the essence of vintage radio collecting. Model named "The Streamliner" by Fada also known as the "Bullet" among collectors. FADA stands for Frank Angelo D'Andrea born 1888 Salerno Italy and founder of FADA company. This is one of the most recognizable radios of the art deco period. Highest quality materials. The design shape is the perfect combination of curves, angles, and color. It would be hard for other manufacturers to imitate this design without seeming like a copy cat. Was owned by the late Les Richter, pro-NFL Hall of Famer and NASCAR executive.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original molded yellow Catalin that has aged to a butterscotch gold color with green catalin accents that have aged to an orange-ish brownish color. Bottom is less yellowed. Not repainted. Not touched up or over sprayed. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces. The factory original color matching handle, tuning window, tuning window trim and knobs are in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips also not repainted, not touched up and not over sprayed. All trim pieces are securely attached. Original tuning backing is in excellent condition with no bends, warping, rust, oxidation, peeling or fading. Original art deco looking tuning pointer is in excellent condition with no cracks, no warping, securely attached. Original clear tuning window is in excellent condition with no cracks, no warping and securely attached.
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
LOGO: No missing logos
KNOBS: The original tuning and volume knob is in excellent condition no cracks no chips securely attached. Tuning pointer rotates with ease, no slipping, no sticky or stuck spots.
LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping or sticky spots.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial lights works and lights brightly
CLOCK: No clock
SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is in fair condition securely mounted by all push pins water stained. Factory printing is faded but readable.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels.
