Burgundy Magenta 1953 Capehart Farnsworth Model T-20 AM Vintage Vacuum Tube Radio Top Performer and Construction!
DESCRIPTION: This is a solidly built radio with many costly features back in its day. Color matching factory painted burgundy magenta Bakelite back. Most radios from this period made do with a fiber board or cardboard back. Tabletop tube AM radio alarm manufactured by Capehart Farnsworth in 1953 in excellent+ working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches. Original factory molded burgundy magenta color urea plastic, a hard inflexible plastic that predates modern polystyrene based plastics. All original factory molded colors through and through. No repaint. No over spray. No touch up. None needed. The front metal mesh grill is in excellent condition with no holes, dents dings, or scratches.
KNOBS: All knobs are original, matching, and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine and is securely attached. Tuning has two dial speeds which is nifty. No slipping. All 3 clock function knobs are original matching, no stripped internal key slots.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
FACTORY LABELS: The factory bottom label is partially missing.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent. Alarm works. Clock and alarm set functions work. Sleep timer works. There is a hairline crack on the clock face at same angle as the 2 o'clock slash mark so it's fortunately obscured. All the dial numbering is crisp and clear. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light not designed with one. But one can be added for an extra charge.
LOGOS: Capehart logo on front grill is pristine, not cracked, no chips, no missing letters.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: This radio is over 60 years old! All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
POWER CABLE: The original power cord and plug is in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
