Bumble Bee Yellow and Black 1959 CBS Model C2160 Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Sounds Terrific! Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Very desirable tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by CBS in 1959 in excellent working and physical condition. This is Katie Stewart's Radio! It must have been her pride and joy because she wrote her name on it 3 times in marker! We can see why: Nothing beats the styling and the yellow painted grill is TO DIE FOR!
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded black plastic with factory original yellow painted grill. Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. All original factory colors through and through! No major scratches or missing pieces. Hairline crack on the top in the back right corner of the case.
KNOBS: Original color matched volume knob is in excellent condition with no cracks, or chips, slightly worn looking. Not missing gold metal inserts. The original Mercedes Benz tri-star looking tuning dial is in excellent plus condition with very little greening of the factory original gold paint. Usually this gold paint is a lot more greened or worn off.
LOGO: CBS gold factory painted raised logo metal plate is in excellent condition.
DIAL LIGHT: No tuning dial light. Not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: None.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact securely attached. All factory printing is readable.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom labels is partially missing readable not water stained.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is Katie Stewart. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
