Powder Pink 1960 GE General Electric Model C-428 AM Vintage Radio Excellent Condition! Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by General Electric in 1960 time frame in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded in pastel powder pink plastic. No chips or major scratches or missing pieces. This model often has chips on the front protruding corners or back panel tabs. Not this one! The front clock and tuning clear cover is clear no cracks, chips or hazing, and securely attached. All front top clock function lettering is in excellent condition. Not rubbed off.
KNOBS: Original knobs are in excellent condition, original, matching and securely attached. The tuning poinitng works fine no slipping no sticky spots. Volume knob gold metal center caps is shiny not oxidized. Tuning gold metal center insert is slightly tarnished. Original factory matching clock function knobs.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front white clock face is clean, no rust pitting, warping or water staining.
DIAL LIGHT: Tuning dial light works as designed and follows movement of the dial pointer. Wicked!
CLOCK Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer alarm works. Wake to radio and radio with buzzer. Sleep timer works. Snooze button on top works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All two Intermediate Frerquency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free operation in the future. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: New replacement power cord and safety polarized polarized plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Not designed with one. Color matching original is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or melted heat vanes. Securely attached.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory label is intact.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets. Was probably used in or near the kitchen for much of its life.
