DESCRIPTION: The Moto dragster is one of the cutest radio designs of the period. If you are looking for a symbolic design that seems to resonate with everyone, this design would be on the list. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Motorola in 1957-58 in excellent condition. This vintage radio is the affectionately named 'dragster' model for obvious reasons. A collectors favorite. All original factory color and knobs. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment although I live in rural Connecticut and only 1 station comes in clearly. This radio is almost 60 years old! Brown case was cracked and chipped. Has been completely restored and looks near mint! Has been repainted on top and left sides. Paint match is near perfect. Glossiness is mirror deep no flaws or waviness. Motorola label on front speaker grill and gold tuning decal are in excellent condition with little or degradation. These decals are made of paper so a lot of them come off over the years. The knobs are in excellent condition. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Backing board is in good condition with crisp square corners. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
