Sable Brown Marbled Bakelite 1946 Bendix Model 75P6U AM FM Vacuum Tube Radio Gorgeous!
DESCRIPTION: Radios that receive both AM and FM before the 60s are rare. This 1940s model by Bendix is extremely rare and beautiful. Has a sleek sweeping front profile that looks more modernist than deco in my opinion. Front metal painted grill has a high-quality leather looking colored theme. Rich looking without bright ostentation. Classical style without being ornate. Metal trim and knob inserts are tasteful oiled bronze copper tone. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Bendix Aviation in 1946 timeframe in excellent+ working and physical condition. Picks up AM and FM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Even better reception if you connect an antenna. Any 5' -10' length of wire will do. Original molded Bakelite is in excellent physical condition. Original factory molded color. Not repainted. No cosmetic repairs. None necessary. No cracks, splits, warping, or missing material. Front Bendix logo is in perfect condition, no missing parts of letters. Has built in handle in back which is very functional. This radio is over 70 years old! The original knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine. Has working high and low tone switch which is the inner circle of the middle knob. The dial glass is clear, no cracks. Dial numbering is clear intact no rub off or flaking. Dial light lights up brightly. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents, so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The power cord and plug are in good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
