Classic 1952 Dark Brown and Ivory Vintage Sylvania Model 540M AM Tube Clock Radio Near Mint Looks Sounds Heavenly!
DESCRIPTION: This vintage tabletop clock radio is a rare and very beautiful design. Seems to capture early fifties just before the birth of rock and roll aesthetic perfectly. The cabinet profile is just rounded enough but not overly heavy or bulky like some designs of the deco period. Predates the late fifties romantic turn towards futurism and its signature use of bold colors and angular contours. This clock radio look comes at a time when old clunky ideas of the past were being shed but we weren't sure what was next. We knew big things were coming. We just weren't ready to get wild yet! What a treasure from that sort of 'tween period! Striking color contrast in all original factory molded colors. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Sylvania in 1952 in excellent working condition. No cracks, chips, or major scratches. No repaints or exterior repairs. None needed. No chips due to the nice rounded corners of this radio design, totally gorgeous! The radio is in near mint original condition. Knobs are original and securely attached. This radio is almost 60 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial or clock lettering. The 'Sylvania' raised painted logo is in great condition. The tuning dial works fine. The new replacement power cable is securely attached. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. The clock works and keep accurate time. The clock has a gorgeous brass surround. The clock motor is silent. No humming, buzzing, or grinding noises. The clock clear glass cover is not cracked or yellowed. The alarm works. The buzzer works. The clock and alarm set function work. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
