Seafoam Turquoise and White 1963 Philco Model K914-124 Rare FM & AM Tube Radio Wow - What A Find!
DESCRIPTION: Twin speaker vacuum tube AM and FM models manufactured in USA are rare. A lot of the AM FM radios from this period were starting to be manufactured in Japan. Has not returned to USA since by any major manufacturer. This model has the desirable aesthetic appearance of the 50s but the FM option more commonly found in the sixties. You get both! You get the great look of the 50s but with FM! How often do you come across that? This model is in excellent+ physical and working condition. No cracks, chips, or major scratches anywhere. Factory molded original color. Not repainted. No over spray touch-up. Like all designs of this era, you need a FM antenna to receive stations. A FM Antenna has been added to the back and is perfectly functional. Excellent mid century design and very hard to find in any condition much less in desirable seafoam! The knobs are securely attached. Left power knob pulls outward to turn on. Rotate to modulate volume. Right AM FM knob is on FM by pulling outward and AM by pushing inward. Why did they do it that way? The chrome paint is missing in some places on the knobs due to normal use. This radio is 55 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No missing Philco Am FM label which often pops off and goes missing over the years. No smudges or yellowing. The tuning and volume dials work fine. No slipping. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. No dial light. Not designed with one. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Bottom factory labels are intact. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The original power cord and plug is in good working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
