DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube radio manufactured by General Electric in 1950 time frame in excellent physical and working condition. Very popular model from General Electric.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory burgundy red molded plastic. Original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted, not touched up or over sprayed. There are no cracks or major scratches. The bottom has repaired chip by one of the attachment screws. Top has two small dicsoloration spots where the color is a little lighter. Clear original clear plastic clock window is in excellent condition, not cracked, no chips, not yellowed with age, not warping and securely attached. Tuning gold metal factory painted back panel is in very good condition with no rust or water stains no oxidation trails. Tuning numbers not rubbed off.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without an external antenna.
KNOBS: Original factory matching tuning and volume dials work fine. Securely attached. Original matching clock function knobs no broken posts no stripped inner slots. Volume knob has a little melted part like a cigarette burn.
DIAL LIGHT: Works and lights brightly. Follows arc of the tuning indicator. Neat!
CLOCK: No clock.
LOGOS: Logo on the tuning back panel is crisp and clear.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board intact excellent condition.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets. Was probably used in or near kitchen for much of its life.
FACTORY LABELS: The factory label is intact and readable.
