Vintage Wood Pinhole Design Front 1946 Emerson Model 503 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Works Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Emerson in the 1946 time frame still in excellent working and physical condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Front pinhole grill is simple and classy. The original knobs are matching brown plastic securely attached. The wood grill is in great condition no peeling veneer. No cracks, no separated joints, no chips. This radio is over 60 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. The dial face is an attractive blue color. Tuning window cover is clear no warping has one tight hairline edge crack. Tuning window brown ring surround has one crack. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The tuning and volume dials work fine. Emerson logo at the lower left corner often missing is in excellent condition. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Dial light has been replaced with a modern LED which is rated for 50,000 hours! All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The bottom label on this vintage radio is partially missing. The replacement power cord and plug is excellent condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. Original wood back is rare usually missing. A previous radio repair shop has affixed their business card to the back. Shows this radio has been cared for and maintained throughout its life. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
