Autumn Orange 1953 Sentinel Model 1U346 Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio So Sweet! Rare and Sounds Fantastic!
DESCRIPTION: You can't find many Sentinel clock radios. Tabletop tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by Sentinel in 1953 in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory shiny molded in dark orange close to brick red. No chips or major scratches or missing pieces. There are 4 tight hairline cracks on top left due to heat. Not repainted, no touch-ups no over sprays. The front clock and tuning glass covers are clear with no cracks, chips or hazing, securely attached. The powder blue color clock and tuning faces are in excellent condition with no rust no water stains, and very slightly yellowed with age. Indented numbers are in great original condition. Dial hand missing a tiny bit of paint due to wear.
KNOBS: Original knobs are color matching ivory and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine no slipping no sticky spots..
LOGO: The Sentinel front logo is in excellent condition.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light not designed with one but one can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Clock hands show little paint rub-off. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer alarm works. Wake to radio and radio with buzzer. Sleep timer works. Clock time set knob needs to be held in order to set alarm time. Otherwise, alarm time set will change clock time. Funny.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original thicker power cord and plug is in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intake securely attached. Printing is faded.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: labels missing.
