Artisan Handcrafted Original Vintage Wood 1940 Farnsworth Model BT-45 AM Radio Sounds Great Fancy Details!
DESCRIPTION: Farnsworth is a big name among the early pioneers of radio and television. The story between Farnsworth and RCA Sarnoff is an interesting tale in 20th century corporate history like current day Microsoft and Apple board room intrigue. Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Farnsworth in 1940 in very good cosmetic and working condition. Dial lights up brightly. The knobs are original matching brown plastic securely attached. Original wood cabinet is structurally intact with no splits or unglued seams in the construction anywhere on the cabinet. The veneer is showing its age. All original factory finish. Top finish has some thin worn through areas but no peeling veneer. Right top corner has area where the veneer is cracked and chipped. The original fancy burl trim is a nice touch. All other corners edges and surfaces veneer is excellent not peeling. Original factory Farnsworth logo is excellent condition. Original factory grill cloth is not ripped, no separated on edges, no runs or some light stains no odors. Not repainted no touch ups, no overspray. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial with or without external antenna attachment included. This radio is over 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Clear dial plastic is original with very little hazing or yellowing and no cracks. The tuning and volume dials work fine. Tuning dial does not slip no sticky spots. Nice original red tuning pointer. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The original bottom labels are intact. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug is in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. Original backing board is in excellent plus condition. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
