Alabaster Art Deco Vintage Retro Industrial Age 1948 Air King Model A-511-512 Bakelite Tube Radio Works Like A Charm!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube radio manufactured for Air King in 1947-48 time frame in excellent working and physical condition. This radio is very easy on the eyes. This manufacturer made some of the best looking tombstone style radios of the early thirties deco style. Like the Duesenberg of radios of their time. This one has no cracks, chips, or major scratches. Pretty fine for a radio that's almost 70 years old! There are a few flea bites where the paint has chipped off due to age. The original tuning and volume knobs are original and securely attached. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Excellent art deco design! Original cabinet is smooth glossy condition. Original factory applied paint. No repaints, over sprays, or other external repairs. None needed. No cracks, chips, or major scratches in paint. The knobs are original matching ivory molded securely attached. All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. The replacement dial clear cover is in excellent condition with no haziness, warping, yellowing or cracking. No dial light not designed with one. But one can be added for an extra charge. No cracks, smudges or yellowing on clear dial face. The back panel is in excellent condition. The tuning and volume dials work fine. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The brand new replacement power cord and and safety polarized plug is in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
