DESCRIPTION: Tabletop Tube AM radio manufactured by Emerson in the late 1950's early sixties timeframe in excellent working condition. Cabinet is original yellow plastic with no through cracks, chips, repairs, or repaints. Crazy because this radio has a flat horizontal top which is easily stressed and cracked over time. Rare color. Yellow is one of the rarest colors in these vintage radios. It's definitely not a yellowed ivory or an Emerson Harvest Yellow which is slightly more of a pastel yellow. Instantly retro looking with a mid-century modern kitchen of the fifties look. The front, top, sides, and bottom are all in excellent condition. There are a few faint scratches on top but nothing major. There's a beginning of a hairline heat crack on top. No corner or edge dings. Original ivory yellow knobs are original and securely attached. This radio is almost 60 years old! No dial light. No dial light. Not designed with one. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The cardboard backing board is original legible and securely mounted. The tuning dial works fine. No missing gold metal center caps on the knobs. The power cable is securely attached. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Good performer. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, tailfins were all the rage!
