DESCRIPTION: One look at this thing and it's apparent what it does. Make sound. Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by RCA Victor in 1950 time frame in excellent working and physical condition. This is the best sounding table top model of any radio manufacturer from this time period. Like cars, there's no replacement for displacement when it comes to horsepower. So it is true with audio as well, 10" speaker cone pushes more air, so it's going to sound better all other variable being equal.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Tone knob high low settings work.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory brown molded Bakelite. No cracks, chips, or major scratches. Not repainted, no over spray, no touch up. Front original factory simulated wood grain paint effect is in very good condition with small discolored area by front top right. Broadcast frequency numbers are clear and readable. Original factory clear bottom plastic dial cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or hazing. No shrinking no warping. Original factory grill speaker horn is in excellent condition, no cracks, chips, or major scratches.
KNOBS: 3 knobs are original, matching, and securely attached. Tuning dial works across the dial with no slipping or sticky spots.
LOGO: No missing logos.RCA Victor logo is in excellent condition with no chipped letters.
DIAL LIGHT: Works and lights brightly.
CLOCK: no clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is in excellent condition. Antenna loop is internal.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory label is partially missing.
PROVENANCE: Was gently used, lovingly displayed, or stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to moisture, smoking, cooking grease, pets or thick carpet.
