Artisan Handcrafted Wood 1940-40 Zenith Philco Model 7-S-633 Vacuum Tube AM Radio With Push Buttons! Sounds Wonderfull! Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube radio manufactured by Zenith in 1940-41 time frame; solid physical shape and excellent working condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original artisan handcrafted wood cabinet. No cracks. No veneer chips or major scratches. Several areas finish is thin to bare wood. Age checking throughout due to age not abuse or neglect. The finish is factory original, thinning on top, age-checked. Not refinished. No touch up. Not over sprayed. Factory original grill cloth is in very good condition with a few runs and rips but not completely separated from edges. Front tuning clear bowed glass window is original no cracks no scratches, not hazy or warped and securaly attached. Tuning black back panel is in very good condition with crisp clear graphics, not faded, no flaking numbers, age checked. Factory original brass colored tuning escutcheon is semi-gloss color not dented or dinged and securely fastened.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM and shortwave stations very clearly and loudly around the dial.
KNOBS: All original factory matching knobs; volume, tuning, and band selector. Tone setting buttons are in excellent condition. Work perfectly.
PUSH BUTTONS: Original factory matching 5 push buttons are in working. Several are chipped.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial lights work and light up brightly on both sides.
CLOCK: No clock
LOGOS: None missing.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec dog bone resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
POWER CORD: The new replacement power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition. Secured with replacement matching sheet metal screws
FACTORY LABELS: Factory labels on metal chassis are in excellent condition and readable, mostly intact, water stained.
PROVENANCE: Spent most of its life in Michigan with original family owner. Was donated to me for repair and restoration under the condition I find it a nice loving home.
