Victoria Pink Black 1953-4 Emerson Model 744 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Gorgeous Looking and Sounding!
DESCRIPTION: One of the best looking most distinctive vintage radios manufactured in the 50s. Even more fascinating, this Emerson was manufactured in a multitude of contrasting colors some of which are very rare. Making this one of the more sought after models among collectors. Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Emerson in 1953-4 time frame in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded pink urea plastic back and black polycarbonate plastic front. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted no touch up not over sprayed. The pink back is not cracked, no chips, no major scratches, not yellowed. The black front grill piece has the front little legs chipped off. Not unusual for this model.
KNOBS: Original ivory color plastic knobs are matching and securely attached. The knobs have been adjusted to the knurls don't rub up against the cabinet edges. The tuning gold painted dial is original factory painted, slightly greening but no cracks, chips, or flaking. Works fine no slipping slightly sticky at ends of frequency band..
LOGO: No missing Emerson logo. Factory raised gold paint is mostly rubbed off.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: no clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt or replaced to ensure static free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Bottom chassis steel plate is rusted but functional.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom factory labels. Water stained.
