Lavender Mauve Tan 1960 Sylvania Model 5C12 Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Alarm Excellent Condition! Very Unique Profile and Color!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Sylvania in 1960 time frame excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET: Cabinet is in excellent condition. Original factory molded white color plastic with factory painted mauve tan back. The front plasatic grill piece is molded in a lavender color pl;astic. Not repainted. Not touched up. Not over sprayed. All factory original painted and molded colors through and through! No cracks or major scratches. Front clock cover piece is in very good condition with thin hairline cracks emanating from clock function knob holes. This radio normally shows more wear and greening of the front top gold painted stripes. The factory painted gold stripes on this example are in excellent condition.
KNOBS: Original matching ivory volume and tuning knobs are in excellent condition, no cracks, no broken attach posts.
LOGOS: No missing logos. Original Sylvania center grill logo is intact.
CLOCK: The clock works and keep accurate time. The clock motor is quiet on this one. The clock set function works. The alarm set function does not work. Normally you push in the back time set knob to set alarm and the little red alarm pointer moves, but not with this radio. The back time set knob brok off, so there is a red aluminum barrel connector attached to set clock time. Sleep timer works. Wake to radio and buzzer or wake to radio no buzzer. The clock clear cover is in very good condition with thiun hairline cracks emanating from clock function knobs. Lavender clock back panel is in excellent condition with no rust or greening, oxidation trails or water stains. No rub off rub-off in clock number lettering. The clock light and dimmer does not work.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Bottom factory labels are not missing. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
DIAL LIGHT: Clock dial light and dimmer works. Replaced with new gas bulb that never needs replacement.
POWER CABLE: The original white power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks or brittleness. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Mauve tan factory original back cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
