DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Philco in 1941-42 time frame in excellent working and physical condition.

CABINET CONDITION: This is an original factory hand crafted wood cabinet. No cracks, chips, splits, or major scratches. Original factory clear coat is checked and flaking and bare in spots on top. No major stains, burns, or missing veneer. There are two repaired veneer chips on the front top edge. Original ivory plastic grill cover piece is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or warping. Top wood handle and bottom leg ivory painted wood trim pieces have been repainted. 

SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.

KNOBS: Knobs are original, matching, and securely attached. All the dial numbering is crisp and clear. Tuning back panel is in excellent condition with no rust, stains, or flaking graphics. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping and no sticky spots. 

LABELS: No missing factory labels or stickers.

DIAL LIGHT:  Dial light works and lights brightly.

INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Th tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents.  There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.

POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.

BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is in very good condition. Has rips, tears, cracks. All corners are fatigued but it's amazing it's still there. Most go missing over the years.

PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
