Beige Pink 1958 General Electric Model C421B Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: This was GE's top of the line clock radio in the late 50s. Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by General Electric in 1958 in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Has working Normal and Bass Tone switch in back.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is in very good condition. Original factory molded light beige pink color plastic. Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. There is a hairline crack and small chip on the top right corner. No other cracks, chips, or major scratches or missing pieces. Clock clear cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips, no broken attachment tabs. Securely attached.
KNOBS: Original knobs are matching and securely attached. Volume and tuning knobs sare in excellent condition.
LOGO: General Electric front decal logo is in excellent condition with no rub off. Musaphonic metal logo plate is in excellent condition
DIAL LIGHT: Tuning dial light works. New bulb. Follows movement of the tuning pointer.
SPEAKER: Original larger 6" speaker for better sound quality compared to standard 4" speaker.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! This is a six tube receiver circuit so it receives signals more clearly and louder. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. Has two part volume and phono switch. Both radio volume and phono volume sections work.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Wake to buzzer and radio or just radio. Both alarm type functions work. Sleep timer works. Snooze button works. White clock face is in excellent condition. No runs or streaks. No rust no oxidation trails. All numbers are clear and readable.
POWER CORD: The original color matching power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom labels are missing. Back caution label is mostly intact.
