Barbara Ann Pink 1950 Arvin Model 451T Vacuum Tube Radio Sounds Great Whiz Bang Illuminated Tuning Ring!
DESCRIPTION: Highly desired and sought after Arvin model in pink. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Arvin in 1950 time frame in excellent+ working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is factory molded Bakelite that has been repainted mirror glossy pink. No cracks, chips or major scratches. The repainted, polished and buffed finish is flawless deep mirror shiny pink. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. Original tuning brass color metal point is shiny and securely attached. Speager metal mesh grill is in excellent condition with no rust, dents, dings, or oxidation.
KNOBS: Matching original knobs are intact, securely attached. Tuning knob is in excellent condition with no pitting, rust or chips. Volume ON/OFF knob was cracked and re-glued solid. Volume works with smooth even attenuation across entire range. The tuning dial works fine. No slipping no sticky spots.
SOUND QUALITY: This radio is one of the better ones for listening purposes. Loud and clear reception. Picks up many stations other radios have not.
DIAL LIGHT: Original tuning ring is intact, no cracks no chips. Lights up brightly with replacement LED!
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are brand new condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: The original backing board is in excellent condition with crisp square corners.
FACTORY LABELS: No missing factory labels. Bottom factory label about 50% intact and readable.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
