Artisan Handcrafted Wood Vintage 1939 Delco Model 304 Vacuum Tube AM Radio! Sounds Wonderful! Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Artisan handcrafted wood tabletop AM vacuum tube radio manufactured by Delco in the 1939 time frame in excellent physical and working condition. Delco is the same company still in business to this day manufacturing auto parts.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original artisan handcrafted wood cabinet. No cracks, veneer chips or major scratches. No cracks, loose or separated seams. No dents or divots. The original wood handle and bottom skirt trim pieces are all factory original, securely mounted and functional. The front ivory plastic grill piece is original with cracks and chips but securely fastened, no missing louvers or vanes. The original finish in very good original condition with thin and flaking spots. Not re-varnished, re-stained or over-sprayed.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM clearly and loudly around the dial without need for external attached antenna. Has internal loop antenna which works perfectly.
KNOBS: Matching brown Bakelite knobs volume on/off and tuning. Not sure if original but they are period correct.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial lights work and light up brightly.
CLOCK: No clock
LOGOS: Original factory Delco logo decal is in excellent condition not rubbed off or flaking. No missing or faded letters.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec dog bone resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
POWER CORD: The new replacement power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition. Usiually missing after all these years.
FACTORY LABELS: None missing
PROVENANCE: Previous owner was an avid collector and radio expert in Rhode Island. Was gently used at some point then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
