
Verde Mantis 1957 Travler Model 56C221 AM Vacuum Tube Alarm Clock Radio Outta Control! Sounds Great! Excellent Plus Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Extremely rare color combination from a rare manufacturer. Praying Mantis color green and white with white knobs. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Truetoner in 1957 in excellent plus physical and working condition.
CABINET CONDITION: This radio is in excellent plus condition with no chips or major scratches. There is a faint hairline crack on the back edge top. The white back is true white not ivory top to bottom with no discoloration. Not repainted no over spray no touch ups. Factory original molded colors. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial, clock or logo lettering. No repaints or repairs of any kind.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Super loud and clear player!
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
KNOBS: Original volume and tuning knobs are securely attached. The tuning dial works fine with no slippage. The little clock and alarm knobs are original, intact securely. How sweet!
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. The clock motor is quiet no buzzing, humming, or grinding. Alarm works. Clock and alarm set functions work. Sleep timer works.
BACKING BOARD: Backing board is in pristine condition with crisp square corners clean unfaded color and crisp factory lettering.
FACTORY LABELS: The factory sticker on the bottom is immaculate, no yellowing, dog ear, or water stains.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance in the future. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
