
Ocean Turquoise Mid Century 1959 General Electric Model C-416C Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Beauty Sounds Fantastic Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by General Electric in 1959 time frame in excellent working and physical condition. Very popular late fifties step design in original factory molded pink color.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations very clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded turquoise plastic slightly greened with age on front, top, and sides. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces. No repainted, touched up, or over sprayed. Clock black color cover in excellent condition with no cracks, no chips or micro-inclusions. Clock function lettering is good condition with some rub off. Color matching back cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches. No melted heat vanes.
KNOBS: All original matching clear flap clock function knobs in excellent condition. Volume and tuning gold metal inserts are in excellent condition with no tarnish or rust.
LOGO: No missing logos. Front black factory painted raised General Electric logo is not worn off.
DIAL LIGHT: Original dial light works and lights brightly! Replacement LED bulb will not need to be replaced for years! The tuning dial light follows the movement of the tuning pointer. Nifty!
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer works. Sleep timer works. Snooze button on top works. Back clock timer thumbscrew knob is replaced with a small nut.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Has original built in metal screen heat shield. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original color matching turquoise power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. Base interconnect not fatigued.
BACKING BOARD: Color matching turquoise back cover is original. No cracks, no chips, no major scratches.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: One of the bottom factory labels is missing. The more important label showing model number and tube layout is intact. Usually both bottom labels are missing. These labels are often missing on this model series.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. Looks like prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking due to greening. Was probably used in or near carpeting and/or pets by previous owner.
