Seafoam Green 1958 Philco Model F758-124 AM Vacuum Tube Radio Rare Awesome Color Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Very rare tabletop or vacuum tube clock radio manufactured by Philco in 1955-1956 time frame. The combination of boxy proportions with raised profile with seafoam color scheme makes this an interesting and rare example from the era. Looks like raised ranch style home which is patently mid century!
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Tabletop countertop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Philco in very good physical and excellent working condition. Has cracks, repaired chips, but no major scratches! All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. Cabinet is original molded seafoam green color plastic. Clock clear cover is in good condition with 2 hairline cracks, not yellowing not warped. Tuning back panel is in very good condition. White clock face is in excellent condition with no rust, water stains, or faded numbers.
KNOBS: Original matching clock function knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. No broken attach posts. Large tuning knob is in excellent condition with center white plastic disc intact not missing. Usually this center disc is missing. Tuning knob attach post is not broken which is often the case. Volume knob is a non-original replacement but in excellent condition and securely attached.
LOGO: No missing logo. The front bottom Philco is reminiscent of fifties strip mall and motel roadside signs.
DIAL LIGHT: Has dial light, lights up brightly.
SPEAKER: Original speaker. Has original very rare 10" x 2" speaker same kind used in Predicta!
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor has no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. The clock and tuning numbers are not rubbed off. Clear clock cover is securely attached. Clock and radio function lettering is clear and readable.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt or replaced to ensure static free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original cord and plug are in excellent condition with no breaks, not dried, not brittle. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Factory labels present, intact, readable, water stained.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
BACKING BOARD: Backing board has some discoloration and water marks.
