DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by SIlvertone in early to mid-sixties in excellent working and physical condition. Has rare manufacturer original design clock light that stays on whenever device is plugged in. Almost all design of this era from any manufacturer did not have lighted clock displays. Some manufacturers offered phosphorescent glow-in-the-dark technologies. This design offered a rare orange gas neon bulb that never needs changing. Has been swapped out with modern LED which brighter and lasts a long time.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded pink back and ivory white front plastic. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. Not over sprayed. Not trouched up. No cracks, chips, or major scratches or missing pieces. Clock clear cover is original crystal clear no crack no scratches and securely mounted. Beautiful contrasting wood grain clock back panel is in excellent condition with no water stains no rust.
KNOBS: Factory original matching tuning and and volume knobs are in excellent condition with no cracks no chips. Volume know not missing center silver aluminum insert. Clock original matching knobs are clear plastic and securely attached.
LOGO: No missing Silvertone logos.
DIAL LIGHT: Clock dial light stays on all the time as long as the unit is plugged in. Replaced LED bulb for long life. See pictures for illuminated clock display. See fifth picture in series straight front shot with unit unplugged and clock light off for comparision. All other photos show as unit plugged in and always on clock light illuminated. The reason why clocks were not lighted back then was because normal filament incandescent bulbs woiuld need replacement after a weeks of staying on all the time.
CLOCK: Clock works and keep accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Clock and alarm set time works. Alarm works. Wake to radio and buzzer or wake to radio only. Both work. Sleep timer works. Top snooze button works. Snooze button surround trim is chromed with some rub off.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformer (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original gray power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board. Not designed with one. Pink back cover is original and securely attached. No melted heat vents.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels. Intact but yellowed not peeling water stained.
