Crimson Red 1953 Motorola Model 53C4 AM Vacuum Tube Clock Radio Alarm Rare Model Excellent Color and Sound!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Motorola in 1953 timeframe in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is in original factory painted red molded Bakelite in excellent condition. All original factory paint with little dings throughout. Not repainted, no over spray no touch up. None needed. Two of the left side grill vanes has repaired cracks. No other cracks, chips, or missing pieces. Front clock gold color plastic bezel is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, and securely attached. Recessed tuning gold painted numbers are in excellent condition.
KNOBS: Factory original matching black plastic tuning and volume knobs. Black function knob is original and securely attached.
LOGOS: No missing logos. Recessed gold painted Motorola letters are in excellent condition.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: The clock works quietly and keeps accurate time. The alarm works. The clock and alarm set function work. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. No alarm buzzer not designed with one. Wake to radio only. No sleep timer. Front clock face dark green back panel is clean no dents or dings, not warped, no water stains. Clock function black knob is original, plastic, securely attached.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
TUBES: This particular design features 4 out of 5 tubes that plug directly into the circuit board no tube sockets. These tubes may come loose during shipping. If rtadio doesn't wpork upon delivery, open back panel and make sure all tubes are securely seated into the circuit board.
POWER CORD: The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD:Original backing board is in excellent condition. Factory printing is clear and readable.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing factory labels
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
