DESCRIPTION: Low and sleek tabletop vacuum tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Zenith in 1955 in excellent working and physical condition. All bells and whistles model with full function clock, clock and radio tuning dial lights that work with dimmer switch on front. Weee!
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded green plastic. Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. No cracks, chips, or major scratches or missing pieces. Beautiful low and sleek profile. No repairs or repaints performed or needed. Cabinet is glossy green color. Tuning and clock clear covers are original crystal clear no crack no scratches and securely mounted. Tuning and clock back panels are clear prismatic
KNOBS: Clock original spherical fluted knobs are clear plastic and securely attached. Radio dial light dimmer switch knob is a replacement yellowed with age.
LOGO: no missing Zenith logos. Zenith crown center crest is original tarnished with age. No missing or bent crown peaks.
DIAL LIGHT: Tuning dial light works. Clock dial lights works. Both replaced with modern longer lasting LED bulbs. Will not need replacing for years to come.
CLOCK: Clock works and keep accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Clock and alarm set time works. Alarm works. Wake to radio and buzzer or wake to radio only. Both work. Sleep timer works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original heavy duty power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact securely attached. These Zenith backing boards were held on with 4 t-pins at the corners. Most of these backing board attach corners suffer from fatigue over time. This one upper left corner has one reinforced corner.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels. Intact but yellowed not peeling
