Cardinal Red 1953 Capehart Model 5T22 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Rare Mid Century Beauty!
DESCRIPTION: This vintage radio manufactured by Capehart in 1952-1953 in very good working and excellent physical condition. Rare and beautiful. Hard to find red and gold color combo!
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations around the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Based on an unusual 5 tube 1 IFT (Intermediate Frequency Transformer) circuit so it receives strong stations strong, and not-so-strong stations weakly.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded red plastic. Not repainted. No cracks, chips, or major scratches. Front gold grill grate has been repainted gold. Gold factory painted trim and recesses are tarnished and oxidized but not chipped. Front tuning gold metal pointer is factory original securely attached and polished. Gold painted number recesses are oxidized.
KNOBS: Factory original matching knobs are in excellent condition no missing metal center inserts. No broken attach posts.
LOGO: Front factory black painted raised Capehart logo is in excellent condition with minimal rub off.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: No clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board in in excellent condition with no ripped corners or fatigued attach holes. Water stained.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Missing factory labels.
