Primrose Pink 1957 Motorola Model 57CF2 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Works Great Nice Mid Century Looking!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Motorola in 1957 in excellent working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Original factor molded pink urea plastic which is a hard higher quality plastic that predates model polycarbonate plastic found everywhere today. No cracks, chips, or missing pieces anywhere on the cabinet! The front clear clock cover is clear no chips no micro-inclusions. No heat cracks! Hooray. A heat shield has been added to avoid possible heat cracks in the future.
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
LOGO: No missing logo. Often these Motorola labels come off over the years but not this one!
KNOBS: The original knobs are in excellent condition no cracks no chips. Not missing gold metal center cap.
LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. Red tuning pointer is in excellent condition.
DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge.
SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Wake to radio or radio. Buzzer doesn't seem to work. Sleep timer works. Front gold clock face back panel is in excellent condition no dents or dings, not warped, no water stains. No greening of the gold. Clock arms are original black, not tarnished or rusted, securely attached.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free operation for years to come. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition with antenna cover mounted securely in housing. There is a repair patch on upper right corner of the backing board.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels.
