DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM shortwave vacuum tube radio manufactured by Crosley in 1946 in excellent working and physical condition. This was the radio you bought after WWII if you wanted to hear the news coming in from Europe and couldn't wait for the morning papers. In other words, Twitter feed from the 40s.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM and shortwave stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded brown Bakelite cabinet in excellent condition. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces. Not repainted, no touch up not over sprayed. Front plastic clear cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, major blemishes, or discoloration and securely attached. Tuning pointer is original not warped. Tuning face is in excellent condition with no water stains or rust or paint flaking.
KNOBS: Original four matching factory Bakelite knobs are in excellent condition, securely attached no cracks or chips. Tuning dial works fine no slipping no sticky spots. Volume on/off switch is original and securely attached. Tone knob and tone adjustment works. Phono, AM, and shortwave band selector works.
LOGO: No missing logos.
DIAL LIGHT: Dual dial light work and lights brightly.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board somewhat securely mounted to the back of the cabinet. It's a large back panel and attached with just 4 t-pins on the corners. By design, probably should have designed a stronger way to attach.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing bottom labels.
