DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM and shortwave radio manufactured by Montgomery Ward Airline from 1935 in excellent working and physical condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original hand crafted curved wood. The finish is factory original. Not refinished. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces in wood construction. No chipped or missing veneer along edges and corners. Not repainted, no touch up, no over spray. There is finish age checking throughout like an old piece of furniture. Clear original tuning glass convex window is not cracked, no chips, not yellowed with age, and securely attached. Original dial black metal tuning window trim is in excellent condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM and shortwave stations clearly ad loudly around the dial with external antenna attachment which is attached. Stations come in clear and loud! Excellent selectivity and sensitivity. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
LOGO: No missing logos.
KNOBS: Factory original wood matching knobs are in excellent condition, no cracks, no chips, securely attached.
LETTERING: Some missing, smudged, or faded dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine with no slipping, no sticky or stuck spots.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights with an eerie amber glow.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: No backing board.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels.
