DESCRIPTION: What is it about some French designs that surprises and titillates but manages to endear? All you need is some Edith Piaf and a cup of Cafe Francais from General Foods International Coffees and you'll be transported to a cafe on Champs D'Eylsees (not Champs D'Elysees of today but some earlier period Champs D'Elysees). Diminutive size AM tabletop tube radio manufactured by Ducretet when France was barely pulling itself out of the rubble in 1950-51 timeframe in excellent+ working and physical condition. This radio has very good audio sound quality. Loud and clear for its size. No cracks, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! All original molded factory color no repaints or repairs. None needed. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. Replacement grill cloth is in brand new condition with no tears, rips, stains, runs, or funny smells, The Ducretet Thmson metal logo applique is totally money with its tuning fork symbolism promising fine audio quality and precision! Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. The knobs are original matching ivory plastic securely attached. This radio is over 60 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. The tuning dial cover is intact no cracks securely attached. The dial face shows various European countries. Neat! No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The original back panel is in excellent condition. The tuning and volume dials work fine no slipping no sticky spots. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The original power cord and plug is in good working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. Bottom clear acrylic protective panel was added. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
