Biarritz Pink 1957-1958 Silvertone Model 8027 Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Creme De La Creme!
DESCRIPTION: Rare color rare model. The pinnacle of 50s "more is better" mentality. This is the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz of clock radios in the best color: PINK! Tabletop tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by Silvertone in 1957 to 1958 time frame in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory shiny molded in pink plastic. No cracks or major scratches or missing pieces. There is a small chip on the top right front center abutment corner. Not even the smallest heat crack on top which would be expected from prolonged use. A heat shield has been added to prevent possibility of heat cracking in the future. The front clock and tuning clear cover is without cracks, chips or hazing, and securely attached. Also, uncommon. All the functions printed lettering is in excellent condition.
KNOBS: Original knobs are matching and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine no slipping no sticky spots. Often this model stacked tuning and volume knobs are missing, or replaced with non-originals or broken off, but not with this example. Clock knobs are original matching. Also, rare to find.
LOGO: No missing logo. Silvertone logo is 100% complete some chrome paint is rubbed off.
DIAL LIGHT: Left side tuning light works. No clock side light. Not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. Buzzer alarm works. Wake to radio and radio with buzzer. Sleep timer works. Front clock face surround panel is clean white. Calendar day numbers and weekdays change with adjustment in back. Clock and calendar accuracy has been been tested and keeps accurate date and time. Clock inner face is slightly yellowed with age with ghost arms shadows and some minor paint flaking.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: Original thick power cord and plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact and securely attached. Printing is not heavily faded still readable.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Tons of bottom factory labels. All intact in very good condition. Water stained.
