Golden Age Vintage Wood 1939 Philco Model 39-6C AM Radio Sounds Great Hardwood Cabinet Sounds Wonderful!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop model vintage wood tube radio manufactured by Philco in the 1939 time frame still in excellent physical and working condition. The original knobs are black plastic and are securely attached. No cracks, no separated seams or peeling veneer. Few tiny chips of missing veneer on the front bottom edge of the cabinet! Small veneer chip on the top back left corner and front right top edge. This vintage radio is original factory wood construction. Has been refinished top to bottom with 4 to 5 coats of clear enamel then lovingly buffed and polished to a piano mirror shine. They don't make them like this anymore! Original factory grill cloth is tight, unripped and unstained condition. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial with external antenna attachment included. Most later Philcos had internal wire wound antennas. Excellent pre war design! This radio is 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Clear tuning dial window plastic is original with no hazing no warping no cracks slight yellowing. Dial lights up brightly. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The tuning and volume dials work fine. No slipping. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. No missing labels. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The new replacement power cord and polarized plug is in perfect working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No backing board. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
