DESCRIPTION: This is the radio seen in the movie The Professional. Natalie Portman in her debut role hides money inside a red and white GE Model 862 like this one from Gary Oldman who plays a sleazy cop who's in collusion with drug dealers. This radio does not have drug money hidden inside of it last I checked. Yes, this was the same radio also seen in Leave It To Beaver. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by General Electric in 1950's fair working condition. Picks up AM stations up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment but this model is not always a great receiver. Stations do not come in loudly. Cabinet is in excellent condition. There are no cracks, chips, splits, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet. The front bezel is beautiful with no cracks, dents or dings! The chrome paint on top of the dial circular surround is in excellent condition with no fading or oxidation. Usually this chrome painted top is oxidized, faded or rubbed off over the years of dust and cleaning. Look at the cool center tuning disk atomic motif! So Plan 9! It actually rotates as you tune stations. Gee whiz Sparky! The lettering around the black tuning surround cover is faded. This radio is over 50 years old! Dial light works and lights up brightly. The General Electric label on the bottom is clear with no rub off and not peeling which is common. Original knobs are clear with gold color inserts that show tarnish and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine and smooth. The neat red power cable is in good condition and securely attached. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. This thing belongs in a museum!
