DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Emerson in 1962 excellent+ working condition. Prescient modular design like modern component stereo systems. Has little gold raised hour glass shaped design on the vertical slats of the grill. Very sputnik era design elements. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches. The back cabinet is original factory molded pink plastic. No yellowing or fading. The front grill in excellent condition. The gold trim throughout is clear not rubbed off except a little at the very corners. The front Emerson logo is in excellent condition. The original knobs are solid and securely attached ans missing gold metal caps. Hooray! The little black clock knobs are securely attached. The bottom black sleep knob is a replacement and securely attached. The clear clock bezel is a curious step design. Very mid century in concept. The clock face is clear not yellowing but there is a hairline crack that extends from the top knob to the middle. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. No clock light not designed with one. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The clock works quietly and keeps accurate time. The alarm works. The buzzer works. The clock and alarm set function work. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The thick power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, tailfins were all the rage! This thing belongs in a museum!
